Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to all jobs carried out by Adam Liggat trading as Liggat Repairs & Joinery.
These terms do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable legislation.

Section 1 - General Conditions and Preparation
A. Quotations and Pricing
Quotations will be provided for projects up to a total cost of £400. Any project whose combined costs (including materials and labour) exceeds this will be provided as an estimation only.
Estimations and quotations are valid for 21 days from the date of issue. This is due to fluctuating material prices, ensuring we provide you with the most accurate and fair cost. All estimations and quotations for larger projects, such as kitchen and bathroom renovations, are also provided subject to change. This is because certain elements both structural and non structural, including but not limited to; joist issues, unsafe flooring, plumbing and electrics may be concealed behind existing units or fixtures. Once these are removed and the working area is fully inspected, additional works may be required that were not visible during the initial assessment.
Please note that any amendments to, or the separation of, your estimation or quotation will also have implications on the price. If you require any changes to be made to an estimation or quotation, please raise them in writing before works are agreed upon.
Any work requested or required that falls outside the specific scope detailed in your estimate or quotation will be charged at an additional cost.
We will discuss the nature of any additional work with you before proceeding. If you require a formal cost for these additions, please request an updated figure before we begin the extra tasks. Please note that it is often difficult to determine an exact figure on-site without time to calculate material costs and labour; therefore, unless a specific quote is requested and agreed upon, additional works will be billed based on our standard rates for time and materials.
B. Customer Responsibility and Site Preparation
Prior to the agreed job start date, please ensure all areas where works are to be carried out are clear of all personal items and furniture.
If any personal belongings or furniture need to be moved to start and/or complete the job at any point prior to or during works being carried out, you will be notified, and an additional charge may apply. If restoration works are to be carried out on site, dust levels will be kept to a minimum where possible, however due to the nature of the job it will be expected that dust will settle in the room. Please ensure you remove any valuable items to minimise dust settling on these items.
Rented Accommodation: Work to be completed in rented accommodation requires the landlord's written approval. It is the responsibility of the tenant to ensure this approval is obtained. The tenant assumes full liability should written approval not be obtained prior to the work being carried out.
Flat Pack Assembly: For flat pack furniture assembly, a clear area of 3 metres by 3 metres is generally sufficient. Please endeavour to provide additional space where possible for larger items (such as double wardrobes).
C. Unforeseen Circumstances and Additional Works
As unforeseen circumstances are common in joinery jobs (especially with kitchens and bathrooms), the following applies to unexpected additional work:
Any small, necessary tasks under the total value of £100 will be automatically completed if they are required to finish the main job. You will be notified of these, and they will be discussed with you prior to the additional work starting or upon the next site visit.
Should a major unforeseen issue arise, we will pause work to discuss options and costs. Should you wish to cancel the job at this point, please refer to Section 7 - Cancellation Policy.
If I (Adam) need to leave the site at short notice due to an emergency or any other unforeseen circumstances, you will be notified, and you will not be charged for the time missed. I will endeavour to complete any uncompleted work within a timely manner and on alternative days that suit you.
D. Job Completion and Client Inspection
Upon completion of the job, I (Adam) will present the finished work for your inspection. If you have any concerns or notice any issues in the installed joinery that is not a result of natural material variations (e.g., wood grain or colour differences), please raise them at this time.
Section 2 - Material Deliveries and Scheduling
A. Material Storage and Responsibility
We are unable to store large items, such as kitchens, bathrooms, or large timber deliveries, off-site.
All materials, fixtures, and fittings must be delivered to and stored at the customer's property.
It is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure the safe storage of all delivered items and prevent damage occurring in their property prior to the agreed job start date.
B. Delivery Delays and Scheduling
We strive to order all materials and supplier deliveries well in advance of your project start date. However, we are not responsible for delays caused by third-party suppliers or factors outside of our control.
To ensure efficient completion and avoid unnecessary interruptions, we must have all necessary materials on-site before we can commence work.
If a material delivery delay occurs that prevents us from starting the work, we will immediately inform you and work with you to reschedule the project at the earliest available date once all required materials have arrived.
Section 3 - Waste Disposal and Skip Hire
A. Waste Management Policy
We are not a waste disposal company. We can arrange for a third-party company to dispose of large project waste on your behalf. We will handle all the administrative work to ensure a smooth and hassle-free operation.
If you have any queries or would like to discuss skip hire arrangements, please contact us.
B. Skip Hire Usage Terms
Any hired skip is strictly for the disposal of waste generated by Liggat Repairs & Joinery during the contracted works.
There is strictly no waste to be added to the hired skip by the client or any other third party.
If waste is found to be added by the client or any third party, an additional fixed fee of £500 will be added to the final invoice. This fee covers the cost of arranging and hiring a secondary skip. You may contact us for a full list of items prohibited from disposal in standard construction skips.
C. Rubbish Removal Limits
Our capacity for rubbish disposal is limited by vehicle size. If you require waste related to the job to be removed (e.g., packaging or debris from items you have purchased for us to install), please contact us for a quote. We do not provide complimentary rubbish removal if the product, kitchen, or suite is supplied by the client.
Section 4 - Payment
To secure a project date with Liggat Repairs & Joinery, an upfront payment structure is required. This ensures your slot in our diary and allows for the procurement of materials.
A. Total Upfront Cost
At least 30 days before the project start date, the total upfront costs must be settled. This consists of:
The Full Material Cost (100%): All material costs must be paid in full to allow for sourcing and delivery.
The Labour Deposit: The total labor deposit required (see table below).
| Labour Costs | Deposit Required | Payment Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Up to £799 | 20% of the total labour amount | At least 12 working days prior to the job start date |
| £800 to £1,999 | 30% of the total labour amount | At least 12 working days prior to the job start date |
| Over £2,000 | 40% of the total labour amount | At least 12 working days prior to the job start date |
B. Booking Deposit (Due 60 Days Prior)
To reserve your project dates, a Booking Deposit is required at least 60 days before the scheduled start date. This deposit is calculated as a percentage of the total upfront cost, (see section B), with the minimum booking deposit cost being £100:
| Payment Required | Payment Deadline |
|---|---|
| 100% of the total material costs | At least 12 working days prior to the job start date |
C. Remaining Deposit (Due 30 Days Prior)
At least 30 days before the project start date, the remainder of the upfront costs must be settled.
Example: If the Total Upfront Cost is £600 and you already paid a £200 Booking Deposit, the Remaining Deposit due at the 30-day mark would be £400.
D. Short Notice Bookings
Bookings within 60 days: The entire upfront payment (Booking Deposit, Remaining Labour Deposit, and Full Material Costs) must be paid immediately to secure the date, subject to material availability.
E. Final Payment and Payment Methods
All final invoices must be paid within 7 days of receipt, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Bank transfer, card, or cash payments are accepted. For bank account details, please refer to the estimate, quotation or invoice document received.
F. Failure to Pay & Late Fees
Failure to adhere to any payment terms, including material payment deadlines, may result in additional charges, postponement, or cancellation of the job. If work has already commenced, the customer may be liable for costs incurred up to that point.
Interest and fees will be applied in accordance with applicable law. Late payments will incur interest at a rate of 4% above the Bank of England base rate, calculated daily, plus a one-off £25 administration fee to cover recovery costs.
Section 5 - Warranty Period and Coverage
This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which are not affected by this warranty.
A. Warranty Period (Workmanship)
The duration of the workmanship warranty depends on the scope and value of the project.
A 6-month workmanship warranty is included as standard for all works carried out by Liggat Repairs & Joinery.
Large kitchen and bathroom fitting jobs with a labour charge over £2,000 are covered by an additional 6-month workmanship warranty.
B. What is Covered
The warranty covers rectification of faults arising within the warranty period, at no additional cost, where the fault is a direct result of:
Any defect or fault in the workmanship carried out by Adam trading as Liggat Repairs & Joinery, as specified in your project estimate or quotation.
Defects or faults in materials, fixtures, fittings, or products that were supplied by Liggat Repairs & Joinery only, including manufacturers’ defects.
C. What is Not Covered (Exclusions)
The warranty does not cover defects, faults, or damage resulting from:
Defects or faults in materials, fixtures, fittings, or products supplied by you (the client) or any other third party, including manufacturer defects.
Damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper maintenance, accidental damage, or normal wear and tear.
Any alterations, repairs, or modifications made by anyone other than Liggat Repairs & Joinery.
Issues arising from circumstances beyond our control (e.g., subsidence, flooding, fire, or other force majeure events).
Any consequential or indirect losses, costs, or damages.
In addition to the above, if a product or products are supplied by you (the client) for us to fit or install and are found to be defective or faulty, we will inform you. If you choose for us to proceed with the installation of the defective or faulty product, it will not be covered by our workmanship warranty.
Section 6 - Cancellation Policy
A. Statutory Right to Cancellation
This section applies if your contract with us was agreed off-premises or at a distance (e.g., online, by phone, or at your home without being requested by you).
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 calendar days from the day after the contract was entered into, without giving any reason.
If you explicitly request that we begin the work within this 14-day cooling-off period and we proceed with the work, you acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once the work commences.
The above 14-day cooling-off period does not apply to contracts for the supply of goods that are bespoke (made to your specifications) or clearly personalised (e.g., custom fitted work or bespoke products).
B. Cancellation Charges and Fees
Regardless of when the cancellation occurs, the following fees apply:
If you cancel a contract agreed off-premises or at a distance, a £40 cancellation administrative fee will apply.
You may also be liable for loss of profit caused by the cancellation (e.g., if we set aside time for your job that cannot be filled by alternative work).
C. Cancellation After Work Has Commenced
Once preparation or physical work has commenced, the statutory right to cancel is lost. If you choose to cancel after work has started but before completion:
You will be required to pay for all labour and materials used up to the point of cancellation, including any costs associated with custom work and bespoke products.
A 30% restocking charge will be applied to the value of any unused materials that were specifically purchased for your project.
Section 7 - Data Protection
Any personal data provided to us will be processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will only use your data for the purposes of fulfilling our contract with you and will not share it with third parties without your consent, except as required by law.
Please visit our privacy policy page for more details.
